Nine of Lake and Sumter County's top businesses were
honored at the fourth-annual
Exceptional Employers (formerly
Best Places Best Places to Work in Lake & Sumter Counties)
Colloquium and Awards series. This acclaimed program
honors exceptional employers while showcasing innovative
means to align the needs of employers and employees.
Businesses recognized in the 1-50
employee category included: Convanta Lake,
City of Bushnell and Clermont
Automotive and Tire Center; in the 51-250
employee category: Lake Sumter EMS,
Christian Home and Bible School and
Restor Telecom, Inc and in the over
250 employee category: Lake Sumter Community
College, Hospice of Lake and Sumter,
Inc and South Lake Hospital.
The Exceptional
Employers Colloquium and Awards series was completed
in a special study commissioned by Edd Holder and Associates,
Inc., a strategic human resources consulting firm specializing
in retirement plans and employee benefits. Sponsors of

Since the inception of the program, Edd Holder and Associates, Inc. has contracted with Personnel Dynamics Consulting based in Fort Pierce, to calculate turnover rates, growth percentages, employee development spending, promotion percentages, insurance packages and retirement plans; a total of 37 different measurements to determine the counties' best places to work.
Companies
participating in the contest were required to answer a
40-question survey about their organization. Each participating
company has the option of receiving a 20-page
report documenting the results of the survey and samples
of some of the best practices used in the community.
